SEBI SCORES: Your Online Grievance Redressal Platform
The SEBI Complaint Redress System (SCORES) at scores.sebi.gov.in is an online platform that enables investors to file and track complaints against SEBI-registered entities — including stockbrokers, mutual funds, listed companies, portfolio managers, research analysts, and investment advisers. Launched in 2011, SCORES has become the primary channel for investor grievance redressal in India.
Who Can File a Complaint on SCORES?
Any investor who has a genuine grievance against a SEBI-regulated entity can file a complaint. This includes issues like: unauthorized trading by a broker, non-receipt of dividends or refunds, fraudulent research tips, mis-selling of financial products, delayed redemption of mutual fund units, or non-compliance with investment adviser obligations.
Step-by-Step: How to File on SCORES
Step 1: Visit scores.sebi.gov.in and click 'Register' to create an investor account using your PAN. Step 2: Log in and click 'Complaint Registration'. Step 3: Select the type of entity (e.g., Research Analyst, Broker). Step 4: Enter the entity's SEBI registration number and describe your complaint with supporting documents. Step 5: Submit and note your complaint reference number. The entity has 30 days to resolve the complaint. If unsatisfied, you can escalate to SEBI within 15 days of the entity's response.
Important: Always Approach the Entity First
Before filing on SCORES, you must first approach the registered entity directly. SCORES requires evidence that you have already attempted resolution with the intermediary. Keep written records — emails, letters, or WhatsApp messages — as proof of your prior complaint attempt.
