NISM CPE Programs: Renewing Your Certification the Smart Way
All NISM certifications are valid for 3 years. Upon expiry, professionals have two options to maintain their certification: (1) Re-take the examination, or (2) Complete a NISM-approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program. The CPE route is generally faster, less stressful, and keeps you updated on the latest regulatory and market developments.
CPE Requirements by Certification
NISM Series V-A (MF Distributors): 7.5 CPE credit hours every 3 years. NISM Series VIII (Equity Derivatives): 7.5 CPE credit hours. NISM Series XV (Research Analyst): 7.5 CPE credit hours. NISM Series X-A/X-B (Investment Adviser): 20 CPE credit hours every 3 years.
How to Complete CPE
Visit the NISM CPE portal (nism.ac.in/cpe), log in with your NISM credentials, and enroll in an approved CPE program. Programs are available in online (e-learning) and classroom formats. Popular topics include recent SEBI regulatory changes, new financial products, ESG investing, and algorithmic trading frameworks. After completing the required hours, CPE credit is automatically updated in your NISM profile.
Approved CPE Providers
NISM approves select institutions and associations to conduct CPE programs. These include BSE Institute, NSE Academy, ICAI, ICSI, CFA Institute India, and various SEBI-recognized stock exchanges. Always verify that the CPE provider is NISM-approved before enrolling, to ensure your hours are counted for certification renewal.
